Pruning
Winter pruning is the start to the new growing season and is critical for the final outcome. Pruning starts with looking at the bud fruitfulness under the microscope to work out bud numbers and from there each block is meticulously hand pruned in different ways to achieve the target cropping levels.

Frost Protection
Frost season is extremely high maintenance in the Adelaide Hills and our team has experience in a range of frost systems and management practices associated with preventative frost control. We are on call 24 – 7 to make sure that our systems are operating correctly!

Sweep and Mulching
This multi-tasking operation cleanly sweeps all the vine prunings out from under the dripline and mulches them into tiny wood chips.

Canopy Management
Vitiworks has an experienced team that can complete all aspects of canopy management which include desuckering, wirelifting, shoot thinning, bunch thinning, leaf plucking and lateral thinning. Timing is critical to canopy management and the pro-active and flexible approach to changing weather conditions is essential.

Trimming
Trimming is a mechanical operation that is associated with Canopy Management. The trimming / green tipping helps the vine revert from a vegetative growth stage to a reproductive growth stage where all energy is focused on the fruit. Bird Control
Our net wiz machine can apply bird netting over vine rows from single row to 5 row netting in a single pass. The netting is the finishing touch to the growing season keeping the fly rats away from our super premium fruit.

Hand Picking
It’s the handpicking that can give the finishing touch to an amazing parcel of fruit. Our teams of pickers can hand pick up to 20 tonnes in a day. All logistics are organised from winery requirements to bins, buckets and transport.
